Relevant medication: Cleanse your face daily with a face wash containing benzoyl peroxide, AHA esters, salicylic acid and citric acid and sulfur. You can even get prescription face washes or medicines to ensure minimum acne breakout or treat the existing breakout.
Moisturize Skin: In case you have a dry skin use a creamy rich moisturizer after washing face. If you have an oily skin combination used a gel-based acne product. Make sure you don’t over dry your skin in order to get rid of the excess oil.
Fresh Up after Outdoor Activities: Take shower with lukewarm water after returning home, be it from sports activity, workouts or shopping. Exposure to pollution can lead to acne break out in oil skin since the oil reacts to the impurity.
Minimal usage of cosmetics: Avoid using cosmetics as it creates irritation and results in worsening a preexisting acne condition. Choose brands that mention “noncomedogenic” or “non-acnegenic” on the instruction sheet or better use mineral based products. Frequently discard old make up that smells or looks different in color than first you bought.
Sun exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure. Sunrays can stimulate puss in acne. Use sun block to prevent sun rays from damaging skin. Select sunscreen with moisturizer in it as it not only protects your skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun but also keeps your skin hydrated.
Avoid Scrub: Avoid excessive scrubbing and washing of face. While exfoliation with a good scrub is generally good for skin, friction from scrubbing can increase the intensity of acne. If you have an acne condition, don’t use face washes or scrubs with bristles in it as it might worsen the acne condition.
Avoid touching face: Touching your face can spread the bacteria that cause pores to become inflamed and irritated. Wash your hands before applying anything to your face. In addition to the spread of bacteria, scratching acne can also cause it to burst and leave permanent marks on your skin.
Acne treatment needs patience and perseverance as it takes a lot of time to completely go away. You also need to consider your skin type before using any product. Dedication is the key in acne treatment. Follow the instructions thoroughly. If still the acne problem persists, it is recommended to visit a dermatologist who can prescribe medication and oral treatment to control hormonal flow in body.
